What is Water Baptism
*******************

The bible teaches us that Jesus said we are to get "water baptized"
after we get saved (born again) (pray the sinners prayer) etc.

What does this mean

*****************************
To explain this first let's look at what Jesus did to obey
God regarding "water baptism"

Mathew 3:13 -17 reads,"Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan
coming to John, to be baptized by him.  But John tried to prevent Him saying,
"I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?

But Jesus answering said to him, "Permit it at this time; for in this way
it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness" Then he permitted Him.

And after being baptized, Jesus went up
immediate from the water;

and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of
God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him,

and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying,
 "This is My beloved
Son, in whom I am well pleased."

Jesus had John the baptist take
Him in the river and submerge Him.

This was "Water Baptism"

Jesus got baptized. He showed
His obedience to His Father.

"Water Baptism is an outward sign
of an inward change"

It signify's the death of the old man
(the person we were before we
got saved by Jesus),

and the birth of the new man that we are now because
of Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit living in us.

It is a command of God that we are to obey.

If you have not been water baptized then you should
find a good church that does
this and get it done.

It will please God and you will be obedient
to what the bible tells us to do.

Here are some Bible scriptures that verify this

Acts 16:25-33 reads,
"But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and
singing hymns of praise to God,

(They were locked up in a prison)

and the prisoners were listening to them: and suddenly
there came a great earthquake,

so that the foundation of the prison house were shaken;
and immediately everyone's chains were unfastened.

And when the jailer had been roused out of sleep and
had seen the prison doors opened,

he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing

that the prisoners had escaped.

But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying,
"Do yourself no harm, for we are all here!"

And he called for lights and rushed in
and, trembling with fear,

he fell down before Paul and Silas, and after he brought
them out, he said, "Sirs,
what must I do to be saved?"

And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you
shall be saved, you and your household."

And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together
with all who were in his house.

And he took them
that very hour of the night
and washed their wounds, and immediately
he was baptized,
he and all his house
hold."

Please note:  he got baptized IMMEDIATELY
after getting saved

In Acts Chapter 8 starting with verse 26 we read:

"And the eunuch answered Philip and said, Please tell me,
of whom does the prophet say this?

Of himself, or of someone else?" And Philip opened his mouth
and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him.

And as they went along the road they came to some water;
and the eunuch said, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?

And Philip said, "If you believe with
all you heart, you may."

And he answered and said, I believe that
Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they
both went down into the water,

Philip as well as the eunuch;
and he baptized him.

And when they came up out of the water,
the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away;

and the eunuch saw him no more,
but went on his way rejoicing."

Note:
They went "down into the water" It was not a sprinkling as
some churches do, it was total immersion. This is the bible way.
The way God wants it done

As Christians, one of the first things I believe every born-again

believer should observe, either at the moment of being saved in the Lord or sometime shortly thereafter, is to be baptized with water.

You can either be baptized with water at the moment
you are receiving your gift of eternal salvation from the Lord,
or you can be baptized with water at a later date.

*********************

There are at least 5 reasons
we should get baptized

THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE IS BECAUSE
JESUS TOLD US TO DO IT!

Matthew 28:19-20
m

1. You are spiritually buried with Jesus and
raised through faith in Him
Colossians 2:12

2. you have clothed your self with Christ
Galatians 3:27

3. To Symbolize the Death of Our
Old Life and Old Man,

4. Signifying Our New, Inner Union
With the Lord

5. Initiation Into the Body of Christ
Ephesians 4:4-6

*********************
If you believe in Jesus Christ
and have accepted Him
as your saviour,

and have not been water baptized
I encourage you to do it soon.

It is said delayed obedience is disobediance
Until next time:
